Ellie emphasized that she and Ed Sheeran were never in a romantic relationship. The rumors of their alleged romance resurfaced when she responded to a TikTok comment about her cheating on Ed with Niall Horan, stating that it was false. Ellie also revealed that the rumors caused her a great deal of stress and trauma.

He stated that "normal people don't hold hands if they're just friends" and that something was going on between them.
